Worship and Music

ministries

Quite often, the mission of the Worship and Music Ministry is about discovery . Discovering the many ways that each of us can participate in the worship of our Lord; worship that brings joy to our hearts and music to our souls. And, above all, praise to our Father for his continued blessings upon us, His children. Psalm 108, a psalm of David, provides a wonderful image and biblical expectation for worship and music ministry . Verses one through five read (NIV):

My heart is steadfast, O God;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, O Lord; among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples,
For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted; O God; above the heavens,
And let your glory be over all the earth.

King David's excitement for, and praise of, God was bold and broad; bold enough to awaken the dawn and broad enough to encompass all nations. And even today, thousands of years later, this is still our charge; to make our worship and music practices inviting enough to reach all people of all ages, and welcoming enough so that all people are eager to join with us in praise of our Lord God.

A significant part of our ministry is that of providing congregational support and assistance to our Pastor during worship services. This includes: the adult choir, hand bell choir, scripture readers, communion servers, ushers, worship leaders, sanctuary decorations, and sponsoring children' s programs, dramatic presentations, and seasonal celebrations.  We welcome all with a desire to participate.

Kids - We involve our children in worship with singing, drama and dance.  There is a place for all children of all abilities.
